| Ed Franks, a dead ringer in voice and soul to
Frank Sinatra, brings his Ol' Blue Eyes act to Breezy Point Resort for two performances
next week. Billed as "In The Sinatra Tradition," Franks will appear at the
Dockside Bar Friday, August 28 and at the Marina Lounge Sunday, August 30. The shows will
begin at 8:30 p.m.
Inspired by Sinatra, Franks dons the trademark tuxedo and delivers a classy program --
cigarette and glass in hand -- of the music legend's best-known hits: "My Way,"
"New York, New York," "Strangers in the Night," "That's
Life," and more than 100 others.
Occasionally, the nightclub singer, a 57-year-old grandfather from Menasha, Wisconsin,
throws in a little Tony Bennett, Englebert Humperdinck or Lou Rawls.
"It's a great act for anyone who loves Sinatra music," says Dave Gravdahl,
the resort's general manager. "It's the flip side of the Elvis show which has been
appearing at the outside bar at Dockside every Saturday night for several years."
Expect a lot of variety, Gravdahl says, because Franks accepts requests from the
audience and "you never know what he'll perform next." |
