"It's a great honor to be
recognized as the favored family vacation destination among the many other first-class,
famous resorts in the state," says Bob Spizzo, Breezy Point's owner. "I want to
extend my thanks to the readers of Parent magazine, and my congratulations to the hundreds
of Breezy Point employees who made it possible."
Results of the magazine's annual readership poll were announced in the
"Family Favorites" July issue.
Published in Minneapolis, Minnesota Parent is read by 125,000 metropolitan
area residents each month. Its cover bills the magazine as "the complete monthly
resource for families."
A sister publication of the highly successful City Pages, an arts and
entertainment magazine. Minnesota Parent is distributed free from news racks. It is owned
by Stern Publishing of New York City.
Breezy Point Resort, created by publishing magnate Billy Fawcett in the
early 1920s, has a long tradition of meeting the needs of Minnesota's vacationing
families. Its amenities include two 18-hole golf
courses, tennis courts, sandy beaches, two indoor pools with kiddie pools, children's
activity programs, game rooms, and plenty of good, healthy food.
To say nothing about great fishing on beautiful Pelican Lake, one of the
best-known lakes in the state.
In recent years, the resort has been in a fast-growth phase, expanding
accommodations and amenities through its Whitebirch, Inc. parent company to meet the
demands for upscale vacation ownership. A 120 room hotel is nearing
completion. Opened in April 2000 is a new Ice
Arena.
"Family traditions are created here every day," says Dave
Gravdahl, the resort's long-time general manager, who oversees a staff of about 400 people
during the peak of the summer season.
"Breezy has long been considered a great place for a Minnesota
vacation," he says. "And it only gets better with age, as the readers of
Minnesota Parent have discovered."
In addition to Best Resort, the "Family Favorites" issue
contains more than 130 picks for favored family activities,
outings, games, foods, festivals -- even "best place for kids to
play Pooh sticks" and "best cool game on a hot day." |
